Customs don't necessarily depreciate a pair unless it was a highly collectible example to begin with. They key thing about customs is they typically don't increase the value of a pair, especially not by the amount invested for the customization.

It depends. As with anything, worth is dependent upon what someone will pay. I have a pair of custom x metal Juliet’s with black Iridium lenses that has “US ARMY” engraved by Oakley on the lens. Some people might find that to be more valuable than others would.

If it says "US Army" it would lower the value in my eyes... "lunchbox" on the other hand...$$$$ all over that.

Agreed, this is my pricing model:

1. Is the frame custom? If yes, proceed to step 2.
2. Does the custom appeal to you or something similar to what you would've done? If yes, proceed to step 3. Otherwise, proceed to step 4.
3. Assuming custom appeals to you, price it at above a beater frame but lower than a LNIB frame. So, whatever the worth of the custom work was, divide that by half (50% discount) and add that to a value of beater frame -> that's your price.
4. Value as a beater frame that does not need a tune-up.

5. Have the seller fly off the handle at you for "lowballing" his custom that's "worth every penny he put in it and more".

FIFY...
