Can't upload images with gif extension.

As the title says I'm unable to upload gif images. I'm pretty sure I could before. Intended change or a byproduct of the recent update?

I added this info in another thread but I'll add it here too. I tried the upload from tapatalk and it converts the image to a jpg. When I try from the mobile site I get an error about the extension not being allowed.
