The first 5,000 were considered to be part of the X Men Tie-in, with it would seem, mostly Black listed as the X Metal Frame colourway on the label. There's much controversy as too the Ruby Iridium only the initial runs. It was an expensive lens due to the failure rate of the wafers of iridium, approximately, 64%.
It was also to be seen, worn by Eric Bana, in Black Hawk down. Since it was meant to be 94, it made a product placement, six years prior to them appearing!

They actually went in Dec 92 so could be argued a slightly longer product placement……
