LOL! I've always tried to hold to a steadfast rule when it comes to whatever it is I collect- which over the years has been primarily watches, Oakley's and sneakers- never own more of something than you could realistically wear at least once in a given month. And anything that doesn't get used at least once in any 6 month span has to go. Maybe that makes me less than a hardcore collector (I'm definitely a torch bearer for the non-shelf whores philosophy) but that's the way I am- I remember when my Oakley collection was at its peak and I probably had 50 pairs across all the models and it was like....like a burden almost...what am I going to wear, haven't worn that should I keep it, why despite more than enough excess funds do I have thousands of dollars locked up in more of xyz product than I can wear in 2 months. Just the way my brain works.
