MUZM Mars

honestly, put up or shut up. stop waving this 2500 number around like it’s the same for everybody
umm last time i checked retail was the same number regardless whatever the countries currency. Retail price is still retail price. Regardless of the amount of pesos you had to shell out to equate to 2500 its still 2500 kid . Exchange rates are a b!tch arent they .

you sure do got a purdy mouth for a rookie, bet you feel all high and mighty after that 2500 dollar purchase on a pair of glasses when those youre talking trash to have had the OG long before you were pushed out .
Let the kid enjoy his sloppy seconds. A keyword search on here will show him we all had a turn on her first.

Yet another example,( as if another one was needed), of just how sloppy Sux Oakley are. During Jim's day, it would have been timed to perfection. You would feel, you had some kind of personal connection to this. A letter, by JJ, thanking you for your purchase, with some kind of 'present' in the box too.......with maybe an Serialised numbering of up 500.....

And Jim would come to your house and cook you dinner. Seriously though, the team had their own problems with limited editions way back in the day. It was rare and far between for ’limited editions’ and in true by-the-seat-of-your pants tradition within the team, sometimes things were adjusted to accommodate demand. one of the first big ‘limited editions’ was for the X-men movie. The team thought 5000 was plenty to meet demand and that was the number reps told everyone when they were in the field. That is where the number came from. Of course it sold out before the movie’s release and Oakley quickly re-adjusted to make more. If social media or forums were more prevalent for the Oakley collector community back then, there would be a firestorm as Oakley goes back to produce more of the Ruby Juliet in contradiction to how they originally sold it.

the big difference is Jim and team knew they needed longevity of the brand and product lines. To do that you needed to get product into the hands of the consumer rather than granting access to a very small number of fans. there is a recognition that you can’t just sell to 100 people and be done with it. Of course Lux has a different philosophy. they manufacture hype using some limited products to bring awareness, sell other stuff when consumers can’t get the limited stuff, sell at high prices, discount the remaining stock, rinse and repeat. It’s actually a very successful tactic at the business level but very forgettable at the collector level.

I'd rather have a pair of C-SIX than spend that kind of $$ on a re-release Mars Jordan. The coin is pretty sweet but that doesn't make up for the QC issues out of Lux lately. I've had my fair share of them to complain about and for $3200 after tax I am sure I could have a much sweeter OG X Metal collection than this one pair. Then again, I was never serious about buying them. :D I am just here for the show....

Not sure but I don’t think he’s talking about exchange rates…

You guys know 200 of these were made right, not 23? Also I know for a fact a lot of the OG’s that worked on the mars hate that they rereleased them now. I personally think the new ones are goofy, how about releasing a new pair of cool shades instead of straight redo of a famous pair.
Where’d you hear 200 ?
