OCP Frogskins

I picked up a pair of Jade lenses at the Vault in Milpitas, CA today. They have two more in stock, if you're willing to take the drive Turbulence. The lenses just arrived this afternoon; the dude was literally pulling them out of the shipping box while I was in there.

In other news, I got a look at the Ruby OCP lens, and it looks amazing. It reminds me of the classic Ruby (like from the Gen 1 Juliet). The reds are really dark, and there's a nice ruby effect when looking at the lens from the side. Hopefully it isn't just a batch variation, and all of the Rubies will be like this.

Noooooooooooooo! Damn you Milpitas! I can't find that many hours on a Thursday to make that hellish drive, and the Friday traffic is suicide-inducing! If only they had them at Market St!! :(

Can you please post up pics of the Jade, I'm very curious to see what they look like.

Just see if they can transfer them up to the SF store. As long as it's not a discounted item, they should be able to do it.

JK: I'll see if I can get some pix later on.

Here are some pictures of the Jade lens. Sorry for the crudity of the images, but I just threw the glasses on the hood of my filthy truck and snapped away:tongue: To be honest, I'm sort of disappointed in these. They look really great when you pull them out of the package and they're sitting on top of a solid surface, but once you get them installed in the frames, and there's nothing behind the lens, the green just isn't that vibrant. Looking through the lens is nice, albeit a bit boring. It's actually similar to looking through plain old grey lenses. Here's how they look from the outside.

And this is about as bright as the lens will look if you see it under just the right conditions, from the right angle:

Here's a comparison of the Acid Blue Frogskins with Jade lenses, vs Grape Juice Jupiter with aftermarket VL green lenses. Take a look at how much nicer the VLs look in comparison. The only problem with the green VL is that when you look through them, they're just like the Violet Iridium; you see different colored tints depending on where you look out of the lens.

Like any Oakley iridium lens, the color looks much richer when there's a surface behind it, like your face for example. I don't believe that's a true representation of the jade when being worn. Chrome looks pretty close to grey when there's no surface behind it

Also, I feel it is worth noting that the frame plays a part in the end result, and I'd still like to see matte black with a set of OCP jade lenses. The matte black frame will reject any light bleeding from the lenses, and should add to the opacity of the lenses (in theory).

If no one posts up pictures of a pair, I will do so once I manage to snag a pair of jade lenses! :)

Guess what I got?

The Jade is amazing!
As if I were a mere conjurer of cheap tricks! Batwolf responds within minutes. *turns off the batwolf signal*

Having seen these photos I am now certain I want two pairs of jade, one for matte black, and one possibly for the acid green tortoise frames.
