So what is everyone’s opinion about the Carson Wentz/Nick Foles thing ??

So here is the current situation - the best QB on your football team played in exactly the same amount of games as the backup QB that ultimately lead you to a SB Win....

Carson Wentz is not a “Super Bowl Winning QB”...think about that for a second...

I think it’s a huge kick in the balls and puts sooooo much more pressure on CW to actually win ANOTHER SB FOR PHILLY, or another SB in general...

Right now, his ring is near meaningless because he did nothing to “win it”...he didn’t take a snap during the playoffs or even the SB...there will be ZERO highlights of him during this magical playoff run and no mention of how many yards he had in any of the games that mattered...

In 15 years when CW decides he should hang it up, and he only has this one single ring, I think most people (probably himself included) would feel really uncomfortable to address him or introduce him as “Super Bowl Champion Carson Wentz”, and they’ll probably try their hardest to avoid it at all cost...

He’s in a really bad spot right now because within 6 weeks, he went from being Philly’s Hero, to just another guy...Philly’s SB Winning QB is a small town Texas Boy who was a backup most of his career...

First off, there is alot of speculation in your post. The eagles return every single offensive starter next year as well as Nick foles(assuming they don't trade him for big bucks). As well as 9 defensive starters so they should still be a relevant super bowl contender....which means wentz should still have a few .ore opportunities to get there. I think keeping Foles around will be healthy motivation for his return and could even elevate his play....knowing there is a super bowl mvp right behind you if you don't ball out.

I don't think his ring is near meaningless as you say, he led them to an 11-2 record and was the league mvp until his injury. He also helped prepare Foles for his super bowl run.

That being said....it would be a good sized slap in the face if he never makes it to the promise land on his own.

Something that I think is being missed here is the role of their head coach Doug Pederson. He was Brett Favres back up in green bay's championship in 1998 but has proven to be a top notch QB mentor in his 2 short years as head coach. Foles and wentz both owe alot of their success to him.

And yes Foles is from Texas, but I wouldn't call Austin "small town"

That’s exactly my point - CW will have to prove himself that he can lead a team in the regular season as well as a Super Bowl Win...

The pressure is on, as no one is celebrating CW today or ever until HE gets a ring...

Until he wins one on his own accord, Foles will always be held in higher regard and Eagles Lore simply based on the fact that he was in the field throwing 370+ yards while beating Brady and bringing a Championship to Philly...

He’s not from Austin, he’s from Westlake...

Westlake has 3,100 people in it, which is the same amount of people in any Target Shopping Center at any given time in Houston or Philly hahaha !!!

Foles will probably be held in higher lore to eagles fans no matter what wentz does. He won us our first super bowl and rose from the ashes as a back up to do it against the most decorated quarter back of all time. Even if wentz wins 2 championships Foles will always have a special spot

But if CW never wins one, he will never hold the title of “Super Bowl Winning QB”, even if he is wearing a ring...

Again, real tough spot...
