So I'm doing a pickup for a member last night. I drove in from Austin so I'm beat tired and I still have to go out for wifes bday dinner. I get free finally at 11:15 and drive the 20 minutes to pickup as its nowhere near my house. Park in front of Walmart as close as I can. Well this blazer rolls up, then by and parks same row like 25 spots down, then 3 guys walk up to car like weird. I grab my knife, keep door open and position myself. It's 3 kids like 16-18. Just their position to me seemed off but I've been dealing with trying to get these so said whatever I'm here. Get glasses in need of tuneup and kid proceeds to tell me no they are supposed to be like that. Ummm no they aren't. Finally get ahold of member and he says go ahead get them even though need tuneup. Anyways wifes freaked out so no more CL pickups for me. Sorry guys. Not worth the hassle. My deals for me seem to run smooth but when I'm picking up for other people **** seems to want to go down or I get a dumbass

I don't blame you, It's not worth it!

In the US, today is Memorial Day.

Some confuse it with Veteran's Day, but it's different - Veteran's Day is to commemorate all of those serving or who have served in our armed forces.

Memorial Day is to remember those who have fallen in that service.

On the behalf of me and mine, I appreciate their sacrifice.

By BBQ'ing some ribs...

Great post @kronin323. Happy Memorial Day. If anyone hasn't seen American Sniper yet, I highly recommend it. It's really an eye-opener and reveals many of the sacrifices that military families face.

I can vouch for that. Great movie. I've been in 22 years so I guess you'd call me a "lifer" and there's nothing I'd rather be doing. The divorce rate in the military is very very high. As hard as it is for us to be in a far away land doing God knows what, we are usually in our element, whether you're a door kicker, an Intel guy, an aircraft mechanic. I really do believe it's harder for our families who are at home, especially our wives. They adapt to doing everything on their own, everything. They miss you and after a while kind of get used to you being gone. I'm divorced (remarried later) and my ex actually told me that she felt I was "in the way" after I'd get back from a deployment. It's a messed up situation and that movie kind of shows you a lot of that.

You're very right. It is extremely difficult to reintegrate back into your family upon return from deployment. Spouses and children do have a tough time adjusting to both departures and returns.

You learn a lot as you get older. For me it was hard to understand it all when j was younger. I felt I was always in "reactive" mode when dealing with being home again. Then as you get older you learn to "prep the battlefield" before you get home so it's a smoother transition. Proactive vs. reactive.
