As someone who refuses to sign contracts I've been in the $600 range for phones for quite some time. Usually upgrade a couple times per year.
Verizon weaned me off the contract by leveraging my data plan. I want to keep my phone as long as possible, but technical problems keep getting in my way.

I wonder if they would get some kind of bonus or incentive to get you off that unlimited data plan? Or just bragging rights? ;)
It is in their best interest to get me off my plan. When I paid retail price in a store, I waited eons to get my purchase done. They do whatever it takes to get a person off their plan.

I like walking into the Apple store.....getting my phone and leaving.......no fussing around with anything.....just restore my old backup from prior phone straight to the new one and it's the exact same phone with all the apps and txts and contacts and everything and everything else. :)

I mostly just buy my phones online now. No fuss there either. Warranty service can be a pain, as I just experienced, but no other dramas.

If I ever had a warranty issue I go straight to the Apple store and walk out with a new replacement phone shortly after. :)

Only thing is that store is always always always PACKED.

I am trying my best. Thank God $200 and under phones are on the scene. My Windoze phone was $192.
Wow....... I'm no longer near that on phone pricing anymore..... I have to max out the GB on the phone since I overload it with crap all the time......well....not crap..... ;)

You are really trying to get me to buy an Apple device aren't you? It doesn't matter at this point because there are no Apple stores here.
