Is the caseback gold or steel? If the watch is 18K (or 14K that was quite common for US market watches for a while), it will have a gold caseback - if it’s steel, the watch will be gold plated or filled. N.b. This likely won’t apply if the caseback is not intended to be removed - best to check between lower lugs in that instance. It does look like a easy back to pop off... will have to look tonight
I took a look on Omegaforums too! Good find. Mentions not taking the back off. I took mine to the local Omega boutique. I know @XxRuMKaxX is probably further out from access to one.![]()
Omega Seamaster Deville w/diamonds
Hello! So glad to have found this group. I have this watch and I have tried to find into on it but I can only find images without the diamonds. I did find one that sold in a pawn shop in Chicago for $499. I do know its a 10k gold plate watch but I didn't want to harm the watch trying to get the...omegaforums.net
Worth noting what they mention about the movement being front-loading - don’t try and remove the caseback! If you have a spring bar tool, take the bracelet off so you can see any markings re material between the lugs at 6 o’clock.

Im gonna be busy reading all this great stuff! Thanks guys! I do think it being a family heirloom I am going to research who deals with Omegas in the two cities I travel to sometimes. You are very correct @Resident Alien ... the closest thing we have to a jeweler in this town is actually me and all I do s change watch batteries and remove/add links and other very very simple things. Next best would be the blacksmith putting horseshoes on the ranch horses. It is nothing I would ever sell... I do not have much from that side of the family because the split was allot off people. The value is the memory of the man who wore it and I can only imagine all the court cases it witnessed for 40 years plus... He was a modest man but he appreciated nice things to so no surprise its a nice but mellow watch.Might help narrow down a reference, which in turn should help digging up further details: The ULTIMATE Seamaster de Ville thread
LOL so the watch band is not original and is a $30 stretch bandI have to hand it to him... he was practical and I bet it was his carpal tunnel that bothered him daily. I know his wrist hurt and had no strength so using a loose stretch band seems reasonable. Makes me wonder what the original band was and how difficult it would be to find one... also makes me think I might just buy a cool thicker band and wear it! That would really be cool!
