Omega Seamaster De Ville info needed

LOL so the watch band is not original and is a $30 stretch band 😂 I have to hand it to him... he was practical and I bet it was his carpal tunnel that bothered him daily. I know his wrist hurt and had no strength so using a loose stretch band seems reasonable. Makes me wonder what the original band was and how difficult it would be to find one... also makes me think I might just buy a cool thicker band and wear it! That would really be cool!
I didn’t think for a moment that that was the OEM bracelet! I reckon an original one would be findable if we can pinpoint the model reference for the watch. Maybe just a current Omega strap if the lug width isn’t too period.

Really means allot you guys are helping me find info and learn about this watch. I am going to invest in original straps for it and take the time to bring it back to its glory state. Its really the only thing of sentimental value I got from him after he passed.

I feel the same way about mine. Point to note I was offered to have my watch serviced. But they would replace hands and all kinds of other internal parts. For me the tiny spots of rust inside the face where not worth changing the watch and I wanted to keep it as it had been owned. I have the strap still that he wore it on and I know it is special.

I like doing this kind of research, especially when someone is asking for the right reasons. I used to get asked for details of a watch someone had inherited a lot and it’s depressing how often they would turn right round and offer it to me for sale. That was their dad’s watch (most often) - I know you can’t know everyone’s family circumstances and shouldn’t judge but still.

Seamasters aren’t my strong point and DeVilles even less so but this having both names on the dial, before Omega separated DeVille out into its own model line, gives us a smaller window of time to work with. We should definitely get there.

Seems to be some disagreement over when the De Villes were split out into their own model range. Omega say that was in 1967, but some collectors are saying they continued into the 70s. Yours kinda feels mid-60s to me. Assuming there is lume in the hands, it’s not marked for tritium (T Swiss Made T) and those regulations didn’t come in in Switzerland until mid-1964, though some export markets were different.

From what I’m reading, the case would likely be an LL6590-1, made for the US market by Ross and the movement a cal. 560 (or variant, such as the 562). We’d need to see what it says between the bottom lugs, but my hunch is it will say “14K Gold”. I’ve seen dials with the same markers but without the stepped dial. The applied Omega logo and scripts I’ve seen on plenty of others looking identical. Apparently there were a hell of a lot of dial options so there’s lots of variety in the market now.
