I need to pick some brains on this forum.
I have the Sapphire Mist Holbrook’s. They came with Prizm Sapphire Iridium Lenses.

Now I picked up a set of Prizm Sapphire Polarized lenses from the lens guy.

Are these not sapphire? Seems like the base is different. I don’t think polarization of a lens completely changes it right? Anyone have any insight? Not sapphire? Polars are different?

Imho Iridum technology is coating the lens for greater contrast while polarization to prevent glare. Outside the difference is not visible. Sapphire is just a color of lens.

I get that the iridium coating can vary (ruby/fruby) but it appears the base lens is different. I wasn’t aware there was a difference...

Iridium is the reflective coating, it reflects some glare. Sapphire is the blue iridium. Polarization blocks more glare, and lowers the VLT% of the lens. Prizm is the proprietary Oakley technology to enhance contrast.

Your Mist Holbrooks look like my Polarized Prizm Sapphire Holbrook Metal from the user side, a kind of yellowy-green. I see the difference, the black frames have a more rosy lens in them. I do not own anything with Prizm Sapphire in it currently. I can't comment on if yours are different. Maybe someone can post their own shots, of their own Prizm Sapphire lenses as a reference.

I apologize, I understand all that stuff with the iridium coatings and all. But almost every lens I’ve ever had that was non polarized has looked damn near the same as the polarized version when looking through. That’s whats throwing me off with these. Seems as if prizm sapphire is different that prizm
sapphire polars.

I was responding to LuckyNra at the same time, to clear up their confusion on what the lens features did. The difference between a standard lens and it's polarized version should be a slightly lower VLT% on the polarized one, that's it.

Both have prizm etching?

Those look like different base... could one be violet? Prizm violet?
