Hey everyone. Trying to get over the newbie restrictions here, so thought I’d post a question for the community.
Is the serial number on x-metals restorable? How did Oakley “print” the serial numbers on x-metals? Maybe it’s dulled because it’s got residue that’s formed over it over time? I would like to restore the finish without dulling or removing the serial number any further?
That said, what are my options for restoring the original finish on my x-metal frames? They have some slight discoloration on them, and maybe don’t need to be “refinished” via media blasting and only need a chemical bath to restore the color/finish? Also, I’d like to restore the serial number if at all possible because it looks like it’s dulled overtime and don’t know if it’s just developed a residue over the number that can be cleaned off or if material has been removed.
Appreciate the thoughts, feedback and advice.
