Racing Jacket Through Bolts

For those that have PM'ed me, I found a set on eBay. Thanks for the offers. I can't reply to PMs yet as I would assume I don't have enough posts.

Most of the stuff on eBay are Jawbone Bolts, which are longer than the RJ bolts. They can be used, but be very careful about stripping the frame.

Jawbone vs New Racing Jacket vs Split/Wind Jacket Differences/Similarities (cacatman)

5. Bolts - The thru bolts on the Jawbones are actually one-quarter of a millimeter longer than those in the Racing Jackets, and therefore shouldn’t be swapped. It seems infinitesimal, but that added length can cause stripping if you put thru bolts for Jawbones into your Racing Jackets or Split Jackets. I believe that the RJs and the Split/Wind Jacket bolts are the same

So if the fit is a little off should I sand them down?

I just made sure i bought RJ Bolts. Since i couldn't find the color i wanted, i just sent them (along with RJ icons) over to @zwc0442 to have them painted. If you plan to sand, what you're sanding is the metal "nut" or female end of the bolt. I dunno how that would affect the threading if you do.

Ultimately, they'll work. You just have to be careful when you take them out because they may move around/won't sit flush and may spin in the socket when you're trying to remove them, thus potentially stripping the plastic of the frame. I didn't want to deal with that so i went with RJ specific bolts.

Ironically, one of the bolts on my RJ was screwed in too tight from the factory, so when i try to loosen, i can feel it slip in the frame socket. There was another post on here that suggested using a glue dot to hold the painted side (to prevent spinning) and try to loosen it that way. I have yet to try that.

Here's the listing. Doesn't specify which they are for. Guess I'll just have to give them a go.
