And as much as they're expensive, the cheaper brands aren't worth it, too many corners cut means fixing them down the road is a pain.I driven them on test rides....if you can ride longer and faster whats the issue..I'm 58 and need all the help I can. The problem is anything with decent quality is upwards of 5 -$6000
A lot of trail systems around here do not show any ebike or pedal assist bikes. They do have some restrictions. And as much as they're expensive, the cheaper brands aren't worth it, too many corners cut means fixing them down the road is a pain.
As for mountain biking, we'll see a pretty big shift towards electric with the new quieter less powerful ones coming out, much more like a traditional bike than just one with a motor slapped on.
I'm sure some places will keep restrictions but I think most places will adapt and allow the pedal assist bikes that are limited to a lower output like 250 watts.A lot of trail systems around here do not show any ebike or pedal assist bikes. They do have some restrictions.
The problem isn't so much the speed. It's the tire spin. We have a lot of trail Nazis. Anything that does any damage at all sets them off. I will say in my 24 miles of ebike riding I did dig my fair share it ruts trying to put too much power down at the wrong time.I'm sure some places will keep restrictions but I think most places will adapt and allow the pedal assist bikes that are limited to a lower output like 250 watts.
