DLC's been around a while. I've seen it on knives, watches, jewelry, EDC items, though it has industrial applications too. DLC itself is a material but it's applied as a coating using PVD or related deposition techniques so it's a bit of a fancy setup.

DLC is elite coating, man...

If you don't want to get into it, that's fine...

It's some great stuff that makes cerakote look like kindergarten stuff...

I'd recommend doing a bit more research and potentially getting into it
