What Are You Driving ?

What kind of horsepower are we talkin'?
Nothing crazy. It's my daily driver, most of the mods are for fun.

Intake, intercooler, exhaust were selected to increase power, but also efficiency at power so my gas mileage doesn't suffer too much. The intake also puts in a functional hood scoop and should keep intake temps down over stock. The blow off valve/diverter valve is a mechanical setup over the stock electronic so it actuates faster and lets the car build boost after letoff/shifts quicker. Rear sway for corners. Short throw shifter because the stock shift throws put 5th and 6th into the passenger's knee if they're not paying attention. Oil catch can to help keep the direct injection system from fouling too fast.

Stock was 172hp, I'd be surprised if I got it up to 200. But it drives better, pulls better, shifts better, sounds better than stock.

I don't have a tune, nor am I pushing more than what most of the stock stuff can handle. I could put another few grand into it, get a tune, suspension, redo all of the hoses to make sure all the restrictions are gone in the air path, etc. but all that gets me a bit more power at the cost of longevity. I did the bulk of the mods within the first year of purchasing the car. It was used with 17,000 miles, and I'm about to turn 100,000 on the odometer.

Besides, if you want a Mini with power you get a Gen1, do a few bolt-ons for that supercharger, get a remap tune to compensate, and push ~250+ hp at the wheels on a smaller, lighter chassis than the Gen2. THOSE are the mean Minis you want to watch out for at the track. A Gen1 GP with a 19% pulley will eat just about anything if corners are involved. There's a fun video of a Gen2 GP tearing up the Nurburgring - it's a free day, so it's not like there are race car drivers all over the track, but he embarrasses quite a few M3s, AMGs, Porches, etc.

172 to 200 horse in a car that small is nothing to sneeze at. I bet it moves pretty well.

@roblaudrup

Holy ****! You've got LOUVERS on the back window of your Camaro!!!!!!!!! LOVE THOSE MAN! I haven't seen those for I bet you over a decade here...and I'm in the freaking car business!

Well done, sir!
thnks for the compliment doug
yeah same here
I love the louvers

:king:

@roblaudrup, you are more than welcome, my friend. I loved them on the 83-86 and 87-91 RX-7's and some Mustang models through the early 90's. They just always take me back to the high-school "make it bad-ass" days. A classic look that I would absolutely love to contribute to bringing back in force!

flew to Omaha yesterday and drove this beauty back to Chicago. Blue Streak Pearl 2015 Ram R/T with 11k miles on it. only used one i could find for sale with the 8 speed transmission and the Rambox bed (tool boxes/coolers built into the bed sides). i'll get more pics when it gets nicer out. i have to take the chrome letters off the door and the plate holder off the front. i also got gloss black badges to replace the chrome ram heads on the grill and tailgate i have to install. also have to get the bed line-x'ed and order a Bakflip F1 tonneau cover. in case you were wondering i still have the Charger SRT8, that's not going anywhere. i am selling the Caliber SRT4 to Carmax as soon as i can get it cleaned up and the bed liner and tonneau on the truck.

392 cam, long tubes and custom Trinity tune would be nice :)

The main improvements these cars make is in torque. Rolling starts and downshift pulls in a corner are FUN. Stock torque is 177ft-lb.

But guys with a few bolt-ons and a mild tune see 200-210hp. A bit more junk under the hood and you can get to 230. There are some dyno results threads on the Mini forums; an exhaust and intake isn't really good for any extra horse power, but you'll pop 25lb-ft.

Once the spring temps are back in force I'll be into the tuner shop and maybe see about a tune. It's been a few years since I've played with the car and I'm growing complacent with it. I should be able to push another 30hp and 30ft-lb with a quick flash tune.

BUT I likely won't get very far without a few grand in repairs as well. Blow a few oil lines, a few seals, maybe melt a valve cover. Engine mounts will likely take a beating and need upgrading. I'm on the original clutch, so that might have to bump up to a more aggressive plate pack. If I'm pushing harder I'll likely need brakes and I have fairly new slotted fronts in the stock size, a big brake kit is another chunk of change and I can't use my stock wheels, and they don't recommend a car with the big brakes be a daily winter car (I forget why, it was either the lines or heat cycling freezing rotors).

It's just headache. I put a ton of miles on my car.

it would be, but i have the Charger SRT8 for the go fast stuff. i am going to try to keep my hands off the motor on this one (i say that now. lol). keeping it to visual mods mostly. i will be doing a beltech 2/4 drop and some magnaflows eventually though.
