What Are You Driving ?

Small bit added.
Not so much to be like "hey check out the GT-R button", but more of "I got rid of that hideous standard piece".

Rental Review! '16 VW Jetta 1.4T

Since the Z is at the body shop, I've been put in one of these. Asked for an economical car, and well, this is what I ended up with.

Overall it's a decent drive (light handling, responsive at typical speeds albeit a bit of lag at the start), but the interior is surprisingly cheap feeling imo. Especially that steering wheel. IKEA-esque, except you have to touch it all the time. Usually European cars are ahead in this department, but this seems way behind comparable Scion, Honda, etc base models. This uses a lot of that cheap American plastic of the 90's and 00's.

I was in a '16 Civic the other day (albeit loaded). LX has a similar layout with less features and it generally feels borderline automated. If the HUD wasn't so vibrant I could easily fall asleep from driving. Downside in comparison was the power. It's probably a heavier car but picking up on highway speeds was a bit slow — even with the "Sport" gear and such. Then again that was a CVT.
