What Are You Driving ?

No love for the crossfire. Lol
I've dreamt of the 2 door SRT10 for ever. I personally think they ruined it by making it auto and 4 door.
I think it has the 3.2L SC AMG engine...

One of my buddy's had one that had a tune, pulley swap and intake...I was able to baaaaaarely pull him when my STi was on the stock turbo with tune and meth...

Good car, but I'd never get a Crossfire if I were to get a 2 seater lol...with Corvettes being so cheap, the Crossfire would be really low on the totum pole (behind even the 370Z, BMW Z4 and the Ram RT)...

anyways, the good thing about the SRT10 is that they have two variants: big one is auto but the short one is a 6speed

There is a super clean SB 10 (like SUPER CLEAN) red one in the town where my dad lives (where we cook BBQ on the weekends)...

If I catch him, I'll take a picture of it...dude appears to work at a dealership body shop in town...

I didn't think the Challengers had that option either, CAFE regs pretty much forced them to go AT across the board at one point.

I still don't understand that company. I'd love to see someone pick up Chrysler from Fiat and make it a real company again. After the raping that was Daimler and the missteps after I'm surprised they can still sell vehicles.

They're smart...

They will continue to push "American Muscle" and cars with up to date infotainment systems and comfortable rides...

Not many cars out there with the features that the Chrysler/Dodge cars have...

Size, power, interior, roominess, price, etc..

But yes, when the SRT Challenger was rereleased in 2008, it came out in both auto and 6 speed...then in 2009 they released the RT which also came in auto and 6 speed...

It's been like that for a long time...

ALL 300's and Charger are autos, even the SRT's...

P.S.
The new ZF 8speed transmission is THE best transmission ever made for a mass produced car...

Lots of companies are jumping in that bandwagon...

My 2015 SRT is night and day compared to my wife's 2011 SRT that has the old NAG1 AMG transmission...

8 speed is king right now...

That NAG1 is still a kick@$$ transmission tho...

I've driven 4 vehicles with the NAG1 - never had any issues whatsoever, but I also kept my cars "mostly" stock...

But the 8speed is something special...lightning quick and seemless shifting, especially in sport and track modes...

Can't even feel the shifting - you just hear the backfire from the exhaust...

I wide open throttle my wife's car and its sooooo laggy :(

I actually hate driving her car now lol...

I'm curious about the newer 9 speed + trannys... I think there's a Cherokee (3.2 280HP) with an 11 speed ...

While it may not be a 'speed' rated tranny... It must become economical AF compared to a 4 or 5 speed ...

So many ratios!

I only wish we could get some 12-speed cars. The technology is there, trucks and buses have been running transmissions with what, up to 40 manual gears? Although size.....

Anyway, one of my lamentations about my car is the relatively small gap between 5th and 6th. Highway cruising is great, don't need to downshift at all, but that's because it run at over 3k RPM at 70. Still get 30mpg, but I'd take a downshift to get some more.

I didn't like the DSG boxes because there was still a bit of lag - it was probably less than when I manually shift, by I'm otherwise unoccupied during that small timeframe unless I was doing it myself and it didn't want to just BRAP BRAP downshift coming into corners. Plus no one wants to set their cars up for fun driving - they have those clunky sliding gear levers with a little click gate, or they put in those frustrating symmetrical wheel-mounted paddles.

SPORT PADDLES ARE COLUMN MOUNTED, PEOPLE. And the two paddles are up OR down, not both. I test drove a bunch of cars and the salesperson was all "paddle shift, bro!" and I was all like "yeah, but Toyota Camry paddle shifters aren't racecar, bro".

Give me a lighting sequential 8 speed with an optional clutch pedal override with a reverse throw and neutral lockout and standard parking brake, with a mechanical linkage feel (even if it's faked). Until then I'll take the joy of driving a manual so I can at least pretend racecar in the twisty bits of road.
