What Are You Driving ?

I'm a member, but I'm not on there very regularly.

Nice Clubman!

My favorite mod so far - the JCW alcantara shift knob with the Helix short shift adapter. Makes the shifter feel a ton better, shorter throws, and the knob is a pleasure to use.

Is yours a JCW or did you get the aero kit?

Oh, and #2 mod was adding the parts for adjustable lumbar to my driver's seat. Night and day for comfort.

Thanks! It's not a JCW. Just an S with the aero kit.

I also have an Alta intake, Alta stubby antennae, M7 fsb, and M7 turbo heat shield. I ditched the stock run flats and bought Continental Extreme DWS. The tires make a world of difference in comfort. My next mod is likely going to be an Alta 22mm rear sway.

I have an OEM turbo shield on the hood, the dealer put it on after the turbo warped the hood scoop piece. I don't see the point of the aftermarket setups in this car, even with the intake sucking from the top instead.

I plan on doing a full pipe replacement next Spring. Intake, intercooler hoses (maybe the intercooler as well), resonator delete, turbo-back exhaust. And the rear sway - from what I read it is the #1 thing to get for cornering, even driving around town it makes a huge difference.

Possibly do a walnut blast on the valves and do an oil catch can depending on how it's running. It's about time to do another Seafoam treatment.

I got a set of 17" wheels and Extreme Contact DW this year. They are sweet, and the summer rubber is STICKY compared to all-season that I've always driven on every car I've owned. It takes a lot of pushing to get these to even squeal. My only complaint is that they hug the road TOO well on the highway and that damn cut texture they do on some roads makes the car jump around a lot as the tread tries to follow the cuts. Except now, it's 45 degrees out and they're definitely squirrly before they warm up. I've got to order some Blizzaks for my Mini 16" wheels pretty soon, but we're still getting warm days. I've got... I think 15,000 miles on them since April/May.

Definitely get out to some Mini events. Mini Takes The States is coming next summer, and the big one every year is Minis On The Dragon, not sure if I want to head to that one next year or not. I did a Michigan even and we had 850 Minis, a real blast.

For a variety of reasons I haven't driven this in about a decade, 1999 or so. I bought it a year old in 1985 from LeJuene Ford in Jacksonville, NC, put about 150K miles on it. When I was stationed in NC and GA she was the family car and was my wife's DD while I rode motorcycles. We moved back to Cincinnati (not conducive to rear-round motorcycling) and it developed a motor issue that I just couldn't resolve. Meanwhile I got distracted by family, work, kids, coaching and the like.

It went into storage and stayed there longer than I intended but my brother wanted a crack at it. He took it back to Traverse and I told him that he could sort it, keep it and enjoy the work that he put into it but he wanted to get it straight and return it to me to enjoy. That happened today and was like putting on a pair of old shoes; I never expected that I would ever enjoy driving it again- let alone see 100+ MPH out of it ever again. He got it sorted and making decent power out of its turbo 4 cyl at about 250hp/240tq. He also helped build my NSX motor so he can definitely turn a wrench.

She had her first nice bath and carnauba of this millennium today. Fitting since she originally rolled off the assembly line in November 1983 so it's happy 30th birthday girl- and welcome home!

Got a screaming deal on some parts for the car. Race intake, exhaust, intercooler, sway bar, and some other fun bits. Should take my car up a few pegs, increase pickup, increase power a bit, but greatly improve response, move the power lower in the band, and improve cornering speeds.

Very Nice buddy, now needs paint correction which I think you know how to do.:) Did you put that AMMO on it???

Nope. I have the convertible's interior completely gutted. The rear seats are done (as you witnessed), the passenger front seat I just finished and am starting the driver's side.
Carpet was pulled out tonight and by the end of the weekend I'll be done with the interior, move on to installing a set of fresh heads (since I went through the trans a couple of weeks ago) and take it to a local shop for a new top install. Then I'll convert the front drums to power discs call it done for it's second rebuild and get back to the NSX.

I did make an upgrade to the garage, my wife wanted a new 1080 TV for Christmas so the old 720 plasma got repurposed to the garage- which I discovered is a hell of a garage upgrade!
