I like them.....but the Red polarisation is very, very weird.....the reflection of the black dash surface or any other surface in the car has a crazy red hue

Yes, that is what would otherwise be Glare.
Look at oncoming vehicle windscreens, sometimes they will have a pink glow, too.

I do wear them in poor visibility conditions while driving.

I am loving the Purple for that, with the Yellow base-tint, & have realized that when the light conditions are so poor that the Yellow/Purple does not work, perhaps it is best to have no sunnies.
