What Really Grinds Your Gears?

I've got two-

We were set to hire another engineer, so hopefully I don't have to work 10+ hours every day of the week and can level the load with some new stuff they want me working on. They decided the current load won't be sustained enough to hire another full time engineer, so they're looking at interns. A ******* INTERN? I don't need copies, I need someone to run a CAD station and design piping layouts.

Part 2-
I hurt my back somehow. I'm in pain. I was at home Tuesday just laying on an ice pack. I'm calling my doctor's office and can't get in for 3 weeks. "Oh, well if you call when we open at 8 you can get a same-day appointment, we hold a few open every day". I call at 8am EVERY DAY and am told they're all gone. Call back every hour to see if there's a cancellation. How is that a good use of anyone's time?

Urgent care won't prescribe narcotic pain killers, ER won't admit me. I just need like a handfull of vicodin...

That sucks.
I used to know a dentist who would give me vicodins like they were tic tacs. I wish I could help YA there.

That really sucks! Never hurt my back, but I wouldn't wish that kind of pain on anyone, @Rustpot. Also the staffing situation is awful. My section is struggling with folks who retired and quit. I was promoted to fill a spot. My old position may not be filled. I am just glad they aren't asking me to wear multiple hats... But for overtime, I'd consider it lol

I think I griped about this before... But damn... Sneaker shopping in this town is the pits! Scoped out some pairs that I actually liked... And of course they didn't have my size, 13, available. It was we have a 12, or 14, or a 10 1/2. Just Damn!

My GP is the same. You can phone from 8:30 for a next day appointment or for one in exactly one week. So everyone phones at the same time and they have no sort of queuing system, so you have to get lucky to even get through.

And then you face my next gripe, the receptionist who thinks they are an expert medical professional. I phoned recently with a serious condition and the receptionist was very reluctant to find me an appointment. I insisted on at least a telephone call from an actual doctor and she insisted I get there immediately. Leave it to the professionals to diagnose!

Sorry to hear, I threw my back out a week ago lifting my friends kids around and "helicoptering" them. Couldn't move, couldn't take deep breaths, couldn't even sleep. I went to see a massage therapist that I have been seeing since I had some sports injuries she helped me with. After an hour on the table I was still sore, but I could walk again and lay down without being in excruciating pain! I might look into a massage therapist if their is a good one around you. It may seem like a joke, but a good licensed massage therapist has a working knowledge of all the muscles in your body and how they interact and cause problems either locally or in other parts oft he body. They can usually relieve alot of discomfort from numerous types of injuries. As another example, my mom used to have persistent migraines and this lady took care of those too! Just a suggestion to consider if western medicine is failing you. Hope you get better soon, back injuries are just about the worst! Feeling for you brother!
