My gripe is kids should be outside playing not determining how many 1 pint bottles does it take for 2 gallons of juice.

My children’s homework pisses me off. They’ve changed the way they teach math and everyday when I get home I have to spend more time trying to learn what they did that day. And they won’t let you bring the book home. So everyday I’m dealing with trying to cook dinner, deal with homework and give them showers. So I know how SpliceD feels. And next thing you know it’s 9 and now you get to take a shower and go to bed cause you have to up at 3:30 so you can start all this crap again. I wish they had less homework cause my kids rarely get to play after school. It’s not like when I grew up.

I concur!! The education system has now set up to where teachers need to teach certain criteria by a certain timeline because it looks great on paper. BUT in reality, they forgot that kids are all different and different needs. Youve got discipline problems, find time follow each students specific individual educational plan, parents that arent supportive and cause more issues, administration throwing more on their plate for no reason, students not showing up everyday or always late, etc. I feel for the life of all these kids AND the teachers. Its all set up for irrational standards.

Exactly. That us what my sons teachers have said. Someone develops this standard where kids need to be taught it.
My sister is a teacher in another disrict. The children she teaches are all great kids. Some have familial issues at home. And yet, they need to concentrate on their studies. My youngest is in the 1st grade, and they should be playing. After their homework is done I let them rough house with each other. They love playing.

As a teacher who has to follow state standards in a public school I can tell you that not all teachers forget that students learn differently. Every day in my room I have videos, hands on, reading, and discussions about the standard we are covering for the day. Yes I do have to have the material covered by a specific time but that time is the end of April so I basically have 160 days to cover my material....I meet all the IEP’s for my students in various ways. Most parents send their kids to school so we can babysit them, they do not discipline their students at home and then when we do they get upset because their child is perfect (then why did he refuse to do his work in class or his home work which both were modified for his reading level due to playing by fortnight all night long). Often times the administration is not to blame for the extra work out on teachers. It is all trickle down education. People in charge who have little or ZERO classroom experience are dictating protocols, training, and policy that are pointless and a total waste of time. Until they take the gov out of education nothing will change. It is a big money ticket, testing companies are making way to much O.F. O.F. these states and lining all the politicians pockets for to ever change. @hereispunishment this was not directed as a rant towards you just piggy backing of some of the good points you made.

That **** is a big reason why I don't work in public schools anymore. That and the majority of the Charters I worked at were just trying to get easy money and stealing everything they could. The Charter would get pulled and they'd just come up with a new one for the next school year and do it all over again. Meanwhile the teachers get **** salaries, have to buy almost all of their classroom supplies, and still get **** on from the admins. WTF is an 11th grade English teacher supposed to do when half her class is on a 7th grade reading level?

Yeah i agree with you too. No problem brother, it definately comes from people up top that more than likely just read books on how teaching should be instead of ACTUALLY starting in the classroom. And yeah as a teacher im sure its your job to make sure all IEP are met through variois teaching styles to meet all goals and objectives. But ive got many family members that teach and i see their face in as early as october and they look burnt out. But i completely see your point.
