What Really Grinds Your Gears?

How about Feebay account getting hacked and someone made a purchase through my PayPal at $1500.70 for a Canon Rebel EOS!!!! Without a UFCKING lense to boot!!! Hid the transaction and added an address to my account to send it! Crazy part.... sale was yesterday at 11:08 am EST and was expected to deliver 9am-1pm EST TODAY!! too sketchy for that fast in a delivery. Too bad I shut down PayPal within the first hour after "purchase". No money lost here. The seller is now being investigated, and the delivery address is less than 2 hrs from them. HMMM...

Think about this. We have rapidly transformed into a society of smoke and mirrors. There was a time when truth, facts, transparency and genuine interaction with others was something we all expected and sadly took for granted.

Feedback about an individual should involve the truth. Not just 12 months although timeliness is a critical consideration. After all a bad experience from 20 years ago at an air bnb isn’t all that relevant in 2026. Unless of course there’s evidence to support there might be a pattern.

Facts used to be easier to obtain. However in today’s society there are too many narratives and influencers, Ugh I hate that term, trying to force their version of facts. Actually it’s more like selective omission. That’s how reality gets twisted.

Transparency? Most people hate feeling uncomfortable. It’s easier for weak minded people to live in their own fantasy world whether you’re pretending on eBay, facebook, forums and in real life. How many people have the balls to say what needs to be said?

That brings me to my last point. Genuine interaction. Who do you really trust? We are force fed imagery and videos that look convincing but they are clever fakes. You need to spend most of your day fact checking nonsense someone posted just to check your own baseline.

Few people sit down together and speak. Text, emojis, tons of plastic fake bs with thousands of followers, likes and “friends “. Really? You’ve got 4K friends? I doubt it. People that friended you are not your friends. Most of them are masquerading as friends when in reality they couldn’t give two $hits about you.

What does it all boil down to? We have lost ourselves. Society is overflowing with “Look at me” There is the insane narcissistic desire to be someone. How about just being You. Life is hard. You can be you, including your successes and your failures, your good feedback and your bad, the things you’ve excelled at and the things you got wrong, your truth, your lies, your positive thoughts and your vile ones, all the dreams and your demons. They are yours.

Wake up each day and own who YOU are. I do.

I think it is sad that people have just decided to accept how terrible the state of affairs is.
Cashiers that cannot even do simple Math
The same applies to bank tellers.

How is this not a function of their job?!

The more we, as a Society, tolerate this, the worse it gets.

The nation in many ways has gone soft. Growing up we needed to know the multiplication tables up to 12X12. We learned cursive writing, as well as print. I could show you a letter handwritten by a 45 year old man that might has well been done by Michael J Fox in a EF5 tornado. It’s terrible. We knew how to read, write and speak proper English. We didn’t axe questions, we asked. The word finna didn’t and still doesn’t exist. Every sentence didn’t end with ya know? Like? or Bro! And don’t get me started with Bruh.

Suffice to say we haven’t placed enough emphasis on education. There are many among us who have raised their kids by being an absentee parent. Their kids were raised by video games, Tik Flop and Fakebook. They can’t add or subtract, can’t tell time on an analog clock and have zero common sense. They are too busy eating tide pods, participating in some viral bs “challenge” to demonstrate they are the biggest reject or they are roaming around with cotton candy hair, lots of piercings and holding a sign that says they are a furry, non binary pan sexual misfit who wants the world handed to them on a silver platter.

We’ve lowered our standards and therefore raised mediocrity to star status…

No one does their jobs now, if they can get their hands on their phones during spare time.

Take for instance, convenience stores
The staff used to go around filling up things that were emptying or making sure the drinks dispenser was working.

Now, any free minute they get is spent looking at their phones, so the store goes to Hell.

People cannot get away from their screens or their earbuds.
A guy at the gym today had brought a tablet computer & was watching TV on it while using a cross-country ski simulator.

I walked into CVS. The parking lot looked like a dump. I asked the cashier, Who is the manager? The kid looked at me and said, I don’t know too much about things like that. What? You work here and you don’t know who the manager is? Are you serious? I’ll bet you know how to use filters on Instacrap, create a viral dance video with AI and livestream though. He and many other employees are idiots.

Let’s be real for a minute. Basic skills are becoming scarce. It shouldn’t really require someone to use a calculator to produce change for a small purchase. You buy a greeting card and the cost is $5.52. You give the cashier $20.02 to make giving change easier. They freeze in horror. They are terrified and have no clue what you’re doing.

All I wanted to do was tell the person in charge that they need to address the parking lot because I’m tired of looking at it. Instead I’m now frustrated I can’t get a simple answer from Pablo behind the counter because that’s the best the applicant pool has to offer.

When I was still working we had “them” You know, the folks who didn’t do much work and even when they did it was sub standard. Losers, parasites, freeloaders. It was the 80/20 rule. 80 percent of the people contributed to just 20 percent of overall output. The bulk of work was done by the smallest faction of employees.

Everywhere you turn you find people who don’t execute. I went to the Post Office and said to I’d like to track a green card for a certified letter received over three weeks ago. She looks at me and says It should be back by now. Yea I know that. Your website says 3-5 days. She tells me, Yea that’s not right. Ok, then fix the website.

Everything has to be purchased online. We have a robust computerized inventory yet you look up the on hand qty of an item at Home Depot and it says they have 23 in stock. You go there and there’s zero. How can things be so wrong?

It all goes back to execution. No one is executing. Things are broken and they will remain broken.

The stores lie to get us in the store.
Walmart will put only their product on the shelves, but list the other brands as in-stock.

They are in-stock, but only if you order online & pickup in-store.
They want the customers in-store to buy only their brand.

I found the lies with almost every store & it drives me absolutely mad!

It is not a situation of inventory miscounting, because there will be no place marker for that item on the shelf. They may have it in the store, but it was not on the shelf.

since this is a sunglasses forum:

the hoop-jumping I need to do to get to what I want is unreal, on their websites

Take Rēvo as an example, good luck figuring out which of theirs has Nylon lens, the filter only specifies PLASTIC lens, so that included PolyCarbonate & perhaps TriAcetate, too.
