I had no idea I could lock it myself. Wheres that option located at on the thread?

It's under thread tools in the upper right, deselect "open". You may also see a checkbox that does the same thing next to the thread title in the forum list, though you may have to enable moderation first (that's new).

But in answering your question I just noticed something new - it looks like you can only lock / unlock threads in the exchange section; it used to be you could lock your threads in discussions, too.

I've tried hard but yet to find it...

I almost strictly use Tapatalk... I think I'm not the only one... When I want to close a thread I report my thread to a Mod asking to close tho...

And where's it in Taptalk?

Open your thread and in the top right there is 3 dots, click on that and it gives you a few options- select moderate and then you can lock/close your thread
