Where Did Your Forum User Name Come From?

I was a Heavy Truck Diesel Tech for 20 years before they went and promoted me. I have used the username Dieseltech off and on for a long time.

Here you go @kronin323!! haha This is also the name of my ebay account that I made in high school. My high school's mascot was the tigers and I played varsity baseball for four years and I always played with the number five. So I shortened "Tigers Baseball" to tigbball and added my lucky number and the result is tigbball5! Nothing too exciting, but I've kept it around.

Thank you!

There have been times that certain abbreviations in user handles just form a similar but unassociated word in my mind every time I read it and it takes a proper explanation of the abbreviation to break the habit...

In your case, my mind kept reading "tight balls" (the 5 looking like a S doesn't help...) and that made me feel uncomfortable, kinda like when you give a sympathetic wince when you see someone else take a shot to the nads?

Now I will see "tiger b-ball" when I read it and will feel much better...

Thanks again!! :D

I laughed out loud for both the original request and this reply. I wonder how many other people have thought I am talking about my gonads...

I love this thread, great idea @Mrs H .

Moose was my nickname in junior high football, as I was about 6'1 and 200lbs at the time. 5Deuce is for Ray Lewis, and my number playing linebacker from JH through college. At some point I realized they rhyme and started using it as a username.

Reading this makes me wish I had spent some time coming up with a cool name.. Oh well, mine is fairly benign. Its the first letter of my first name, first letter of my middle name, and the beginning of my last name. It was my id for college, email for college, and I have just used it since for most things since my memory isn't so good... Always wished I had made my name "Professor Oak", though at the time I was far from a professor of oakley knowledge.
If I hadn't seen the photo of you working on the field, I would have assumed that you were a doctor lol

That thought never even crossed my mind haha, nice pickup (not even sure my parents realized my first two initials were MD)... Just consider me a frog and turtle doctor!

I did car audio in the nineties. I tagged the first few the cars I worked on with a color-matched dragon logo. While placing one of the decals on a window, a buddy kept calling for me but i didn't respond. he finally yelled hey DRAGON BOY! dragonvoi custom audio was born, died a couple of years later, and is immortalized as my username on the inter-webs.

That's a much better, and succinct, origin story than mine... :D
