Yup......I don't mind the long charge time.....I mind the shorter battery life. But it's still waaaaaay better than my 5S.

No. They a e designed for it.

Correct - the circuitry in lithium ion devices prevents them from charging at a higher amperage than they're designed to take, regardless of what's being pushed to it. And the latest gen of smartphones and tablets are designed for 2A.

I've done a fair share of research on what affects lithium ion battery life. There aren't a lot of authoritative answers out there but it appears the life is defined by how many times you charge it, regardless of if it's a short charge or a long charge. So it's better to run it low then charge it fully than do a bunch of short partial charges / top offs.

Really, that's the same advice as with old NiCad batteries, only with those the reason was to prevent battery memory.
