2015 NBA Playoffs and Finals Thread

I get it, you are overwhelmed of today basketball, who wouldnt?

I say this, get off your knowledge of the future and imagine how basketball is during Russell era.

Stop comparing the past playing the future.

How about Lebron, growing up coz dunk is not invented at all?

How about Russell born today and started idolizing Lebron. With Russell build, height, and defensive skills and give him the comfort of training, technology this modern player has. Do you think Lebron will stand a chance of a monster blocker?

Common dude, your argument of offensive average of Russell is weak. The guy wins multiple title in his 13 seasons in the best basketball ever in that era. Its about winning, which the last time i check, Kobe, Lebron and Jordan did learned after more that 5seasons in the leugue. Respect!

You are an example of a guy discrediting the basketball of old. Its your fundamentals and the fundamentals of your Lebron.

You make me sick!

Go C's!

Bill Russell was only 6'9" lol - one inch taller than LeBron...

Bill Russell wouldn't stand a chance in today's NBA - he'd be outmatched by pretty much any 4 or 5 in the league...

of all the lackluster basketball knowledge you post, I actually agree with this...

Bill Russell was the greatest winner probably ever in any sport ever...

he was ahead of his time and played a sport where everyone around him was weak...

that was, until Wilt Chamberlain came in and crushed his soul every time they matched up.....

You are an example of a guy discrediting the basketball of old. Its your fundamentals and the fundamentals of your Lebron.
yes, old basketball is a far cry from what it is today...

the players, the athleticism, the strategies and the overall talent of the 60's and 70's was the reason basketball was a crappy sport back then...

thank you Magic Johnson and Larry Bird and David Stern for bringing NBA Basketball to what it is today...

thank you Jordan, Charles Barkley, Reggie Miller, Patrick Ewing and Olajuwon for carrying it through the late 80's and 90's...

thank you Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett and Allen Iverson for keeping it very much alive in the 00's......

and now thank you Steph Curry, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, James Harden, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook for ensuring that the NBA will contionue to be one of the greatest sports on the planet...

p.s.
and thank you Peja Stojakovic, Yao Ming, Dikembe Mutombo, Pau Gasol, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker, Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitski for being the greatest international players to ever step foot on an NBA court...

Of all the data you mentioned in your previous post, i stop reading when you say Russell is overrated so i dont see your point

I told you he was overrated, then I hit you with factual statistical data...

and then you pretend it never existed...

Russell won because he took advantage of being taller and more athletic than every other person in the league back then...

there were probably @100 players in the entire league back when Russell was around...

and I can guarantee you that each of them averaged about 6'4" (at most) and were about as mobile as Big Baby Davis...

in order to win a championship back then, there were 8 teams in the league and they only played between 10 and 14 playoff games to win a title......

again, he won - he was a winner, I get that....

but he benefitted from being more athletic than everyone else when there were @ 100 players in the league - he was talented based on how crappy the league was back then...

and what happened when he finally found someone that was as tall and athletic as him !??! he let Wilt Chamberlain pull down 55 rebounds against him in a single game...

because Wilt was bigger and more athletic...before Wilt, Russell was the tallest and most athletic player in the NBA...

that doesn't mean he was the greatest basketball player of all time, please.......

If you gonna bash the guy then be consistent and stop pleasing his achievements. I applaud Russell, the greatest winner, dah dah dah....best defensive rebounder dah dah...if this argument keeps going you keep looking stupid as it progresses!

Duh!

Thank you Duncan, Nowitski, Olajuwon, Rodman, Yao, Ewing hahahaha can you profile this guys...they are the same guys who would be playing in the 60's-70's great fundamental less dribbling and all skills to shot, defend and convert a point.

I get it now, you like dunks, crossover and fancy basketball.

I'm not bashing the guy - I'm just telling you what he could and couldn't do...

he was athletic and tall in a time where tall and athletic didn't exist in basketball....

he was a good rebounder because NO ONE ELSE in the league was as tall and as athletic as him...UNTIL Wilt Chamberlain hit the league and stole all the thunder from Russell....

he won a lot because there were 8 teams in the entire league and the competition was terrible - that's why no one cared about basketball back then...

his stats in today's NBA would put him on par with Dikembe Mutombo, who is just a great shot blocker and rebounder with little offensive skills.......

now you're making me sad.....

Olajuwon had the greatest post moves and foot work of any center to ever play the game...

Ewing was a bruiser who could also hit the sick runner through the lane...

Nowitski is the greatest shooting 7 footer in the history of the league...

Duncan is the most fundamental basketball player ever......

Rodman's peak prime years were in the 90's and he was the best rebounder for an entire decade...he's the only person on your list that didn't possess any offensive skills...

Yao was a 7'6" 24point 10rebound 300lb center who could hit 85% of his free throws and who could easily hit a fadeaway 14 footer...

if Yao played in the 60's, he would have been a 40point 30rebound guy every year because no one in the league could have defended him at his size and height...

your responses clearly show that you are clueless about the history of basketball and basketball in general...

Yao a 40 plus scoer!!!! Whaaaat!!!!!!! It does not matter which era he plays he was an average joe period, always injued, slow as **** cant play extended minutes and cant play fast pace and you think he will score 40 plus all the time?????. There is no point arguing with you and there is no point arguing over the greatest. There Is no point comparing or even inserting past players and present players and vice versa whats the point??? Lets just talk finals. Dont bash the legends they are legends for a reason. You are flooding the thread with non sense comments. this is the finals youbshould start your own thread and post it like. IM A LEBRON BANGER HE IS THE GREATEST WHOS WITH ME or LETS TALK BASKETBALL NONE SENSE COZ I WILL BANG LEBRON OVER ANYBODY or ILOVE LEBRON OVER ANYBODY or LEBRON YOUR MY BIG DADDY CARRY ME looool.

I agree @pj1234, why would someone care ones list of all time great. If he believe it is so, that is his own list. Like our list is relevant at all overall to history of basketball. Duh! Who cares?
