I use bamboo kabob skewers. Works like a charm. They are also useful in myriad ways while painting or gluing. Come in a huge pack and are dirt cheap.
I have them... I just didn't have the MacGyver spirit in me to think of trying them.
That's really neat. Do you know where I could get something like that?
I am also clueless. I only found this in the kitchen of my new apartment.
Also it is better to use shrink tubing in this part of the tool to avoid having tool marks on the nosebridge.

@SEAN WAYNE customized a couple Linegear tools for me, and they feature synthetic wine bottle cork in that same location.That is a superb idea. I’ve used cotton ovals and even leather draped over it.
