this put me in a tangent to checking the mass of all my glasses, & I will record that along with their real-life VLT (estimated) from a UV light test
yeah, I am weird!
& to add more weird:
just got these Maui Jim Sandy Beach in,
they are in terrible condition, but Twenty Bucks ain't bad
restoration project, I guess you could say, but I kind of hate the MauiPure lens that goes in these, so there is a MRY 24K Gold on the way, along with some Orange nose-pads from Walleva
both coming on a slow boat from China
THREE of the four screw point spots have broken/cracked lens
this is the Maui Jim semi-rimless weakest point, quite fragile
If you are buying M.J. in a semi-rimless, try to get the Maui-Brilliant (Urethane), as it is tougher than PolyC & has better Clarity
downside: less Saturation
unfortunately, those Costa above are likely to be even more prone to that particular break, being fully rimless
I got three or four sets of cheap GoodR at discount stores, not because I love them, but because of the wild tints.
This one is Purple,
another is Orange,
& one is sort of like the Cobalt Rose, only EXTREMELY Rosy with a faint cobalt-blue mirror
This morning I took a triad of Rose-Lens glasses out &
I have them aligned here as per their Pop or Vividness
Deep Water, Maui Jim Maui Rose in Maui Pure material, Tajima Rose-Copper
I may never buy another Oakley lens, at least not at the going price, when I can get a Tajima for about the same price, which is Urethane & has better Saturation
I know, it is not exactly a fair comparison, since Rose-Copper is obviously not the same as just Rose, so I will at least try Tajima's Brown/Green-Mirror next before making the final verdict.
The Rose-Copper is actually more similar to Prizm Polarized Tungsten, but without so much color-shift.
