Oh golly.Does that count all the different M-frame lens combos you can put together?
Isn't it not really 17x40 but a factorial?Oh golly.
Let's settle on 44 pairs, 17 or so of them are M Frame... frames. M Frame lenses are numbering at about 40 themselves.
(44-17) + (17x40) = 707
But I've got 2 Radarlocks, each with a lens, so add another 2 possibilities = 709
Tens I have 4? pairs of (let's think, black/fire, multicam, black/VR28BIP, brown smoke) yes, 4. But 3 being custom you've got another (3x3-3) 6 combos = 715
Everything else I keep stock colorways or I don't have lenses to swap.
So potentially I've got over 700 frame/lens combos sitting in my two towers. And my glove box. And my desk at work. And my briefcase. And probably somewhere else. Assuming I counted right, and not accounting for rubber color variations.
Hmmmmm.....I think you are correct....that would bring the numbers significantly higher too.Isn't it not really 17x40 but a factorial?

No, the number of combinations is 17 frames with a choice of 40 lenses. 1 frame 40 choices, 2nd frame 39 choices. So 17 x 40.
The number of distinct combinations that can be made as a set number is a much larger number, meaning my collection can be presented at any one time as any one of N combinations. N is quite large.
But I can only make ~700 distinct pairs of sunglasses.
Still updating every year. Will update on July 16 again
7-16-12 11 pairs
7-16-13 41 pairs
3-20-14 58 pairs
