MUZM Mars

This actually makes sense. Come on guys it’s only $300 more than the OTT that came out for $2000 a couple of years ago and that was plastic. Y’all know when the drop date happens y’all will be glued to the refresh button hoping to score a pair and it will feel so good to have acquired one to show all the other members what they were unable to buy😂😂😂😂

Wouldn’t it be easier (and cheaper) to just take photos of 230 $100 US dollar bills? At this point since they are only cheap remakes do the glasses even matter? You’re up first @Inkkoonce :D show us your STACK! LOL

I'm super bummed out by this whole news. 2300 and a super low release number makes little sense and also makes them out of reach for many people..I'm a huge mars fan and I really was hoping to add one or possibly 2 of these when they dropped. It's honestly a really bad business decision to.offer them up that high and at such low numbers. Why not make 2300 of them numbered and sell them for a thousand a pair.....,??? They'd make more money faster and have more happier clients. Whoever is running the show over there really needs to give their head a shake. From what I read there'll only be 23 pairs released too..dumb. I know it's Jordan's number but let's move the zeros around for us normal upper to lower middle class folk. I'll stick with my original one I guess.

I love my Mars Leather pair and wear them frequently matched up with a suede pair of Adidas. I would sure have liked to add another pair to the collection.

The silly price point of the MUZM releases have been argued here quite a bit- but in addition to that, what about the colorway? If they actually drop Mars Leather with 24K lenses... each individually - great! Combined - an abomination. Just looking at the rendering gives me eye cancer.
Like many others here, I am in it for the 90s and early 2000s releases. Oakley's golden age of disgn and arguably quality. Today their releases look like their own knock-offs. Seems like they have no decision makers left with an aesthetic sense of style and design.

What I would have liked to see is a colorway that exists as custom only: Craters with deep red lenses (deep red rubies or torch) and red rubbers. That would have been something to honor the name Mars and its design.

Im designer and have been working in marketing for about 20 years, though not with as big brands as Oakley, the principles are somewhat similar. I believe Oakley aims to highlight the exclusivity of their brand and its magnificent design history with the Muzm series. It's like the R8 for Audi or the i8 for BMW. Through this limited and expensive series of sunglasses, Oakley elevates its entire brand to an ultra-premium and luxurious level. It's not just about making a quick profit; it's about building a "legend" where Oakley fulfills the wishes of their fans with the "comeback of Mars - Sure, they might be expensive, but our customers can afford them".

This move should be seen as a long-term strategy. These sunglasses will end up on eBay for $5000, hanging around for years, and people aspiring to be wealthy will take notice of Oakley because of such products. PRADA or LV sunglasses are products for the less fortunate, whereas Oakley's $5000 sunglasses are not even made of gold or covered in diamonds, haha! I think that's the point here. And I believe it's a smart move for the company. They have calculated it well and will reach those 5-10% of collectors and potentially attract a new group of wealthy, aspirational lifestyle-oriented customers.

Perhaps @jamin jannard can speak better on this topic cause ((V)) must have just finished calculating the product costs and also considered making the glasses from a titanium/aluminum alloy XD - so perhaps the actual production cost of the new Mars Jordan, along with marketing expenses, is indeed enormous in today's times, which explains the 2300$ unit cost.

Nice try at validating Sux, extortionate pricing, which I don't 'buy'(sic).

Funny people haven’t even seen them and are calling them cheap remakes.

Also, the price seems to be for 2, and while pricey, it’s not totally insane. You guys forget there’s billions of people out there. They could make 10 at 50k a piece and they’d still sell out instantly. I’m in at $2300
That's really nice for you. Unfortunately for someone like me with 4 younger children I can't afford it at that price. It would have been nice to think about people like myself instead of the wealthier.
