Official Chit-Chat Thread

I had to laugh... The neXt Metals are classified as wires on the Oakley site... Well Damn. That's some expensive wires. Whoever is behind that website needs to be fired.
I think I'm sticking with faux-metals. It came to me the other day when trying them on and it just works IMO.

I don't have any vested interest in the metalloids. It is just humorous to me, that's all. I wouldn't mind trying the Badman on, though.

So what did you think?
I posted about it a little in the what are you wearing thread, but for me its a pass at anything over $200-$250. They don't feel cheap and they are comfortable on me, but the arms on both pairs flexed quite a bit while I was testing the spring hinges. I know that omatter is designed to flex but the way the plastic and aluminum connect makes me think that the flex will eventually cause breakage or separation.

The madman is ridiculous for sure, but it was meant to be. The amount of light leakage is almost comical. The badman is much more purpose built and has a nice look to it, but the feel isn't something I think I could get used to on a regular basis. As I said they don't feel cheap but they don't really feel sturdy either, but my daily wearer are XX. For average Joe off the street they'd probably feel super tough.

I just have so many reasons to not buy, at least at retail, and only one, the sapphire lenses, in favor of buying them. Its a baby step in the right direction IMO.

I've got a large dome as well. Bought the Badman, tried it on for a minute, right back in the box to be returned. Back tips of the ear stems weren't even touching my head. Was looking forward to them, but was disappointed in the fit on me.

Well Damn. That Sucks.

Has anyone asked Jim what he thinks about the "faux"metals?

No, not here at least, AFAIK.

But in the "questions for Jim" thread he completely avoided publicly criticizing his old company or Lux at every opportunity. And he owns a lot of Lux stock from the sale. I wouldn't expect that to change, regardless of what he might actually think.

Whether that's due to a contractual condition in the sale or him just showing good class, I guess it doesn't matter.

Has to maintain stock while he bides his time for a hostile takeover.
