I care, too. I just see it as a losing battle... :(

Really, spelling and grammar historically don't come from some set of rules somebody wrote but evolved over time with usage; usage defines the rules. A relatively recent example is the difference between American English and "the Queen's" English. Extremely recent examples are that starting a sentence with the word "but", as in "but she's hot" or ending one with a preposition, as in "what's that for?", are now grammatically acceptable. At least they are for the majority, outside of a circle of dated grammar curmudgeons... :D

So it's really the tail (the usage) wagging the dog (the rules), or maybe what we thought was the dog was actually the tail, after all...

But in rustpot's case, for this one I'm leaning towards Freudian slip... He wanted to say "depraved" but subconsciously he felt the thread was deprived of enough butt pics... :spiteful:
