Precision machined spinning tops...the latest trend!

thanks guys, going well so far. Got some boring but cool things in the mix to help improve our processes and products. Tops are running great and I can relax a little!

Well let's get this thread bumped back up to the TOP(see what I did there)!! Everyone should be getting their K2s in so let's see them!! I'll start with my experience!

If you don't remember I purchased perk 27 pictured below as advertised! I love the "exotic" SS/flamedW/SS color way and knew the weight could possibly give it a increased spin time!! The blue looked amazing in the pics shared by the BS team as well as in the YouTube video Rich posted! While really looking forward to receiving this top for many reasons there were some posts going up on the FB group of buyers receiving their tops and the W not being Blue but Black. So Rich put up a detailed post explaining that with the new W used in for production of these tops differed from the advertising photos of the tops and the coolant used in the machining process for some reason turned the W black. Also it was said that some did come out blue but the majority were going to be black and if those that get a black version could send it back for a full refund but there would be no way to exchange it for another K2. At this point I had not received my K2 yet and crossed my fingers in hopes I would get a blue one. Well as you can see pictured below I received a black version :(! I refuse to go K2less so I have to be happy with this K2 top and it truly is a great design and mean as HELL!! I am also happy to report I have got an 11:08 spin time with. I have only spun it a dozen times though.

Ok so what did you get? Are you happy!?

So the Tungsten material was changed between prototype and production, they came out a different color, were sent out as-is, and the only option is to return for a refund, no exchanges? I would be upset about that; the blue color was one of the main draws of that perk. Seems like as soon as the problem became apparent, at a minimum the perk owners should have been informed and given a chance to switch perks (with refund of price difference) while production was still ongoing. That would have likely limited them to standard materials but it would have at least given them the option to get a different K2.

Really, the proper way of handling it would have been to scrap the bad ones and re-run them using the original source of W that colored properly. That's what the customers thought they were buying, after all. Sure, that's a business hit, but a business should take the hit for its own mistake, not the customers. Delivering a product different than purchased with a "take it or leave it" message seems an unusual business practice if trying to maintain an ongoing relationship with one's customers...

Anyway, I almost got one of those but went for a different colorway, luckily. It's out for delivery today and I'm looking forward to it.

The reason for switching W was because the new stuff seems to not have as much wobble. This to me was an aesthetic not wobble vs no wobble.
