The Video Games Thread

I think there are some ways to play these on a DOS emulator if you are feeling nostalgic. Loved these games back in the day with a Microsoft force feedback Pilot stick. Had to map all the buttons but worth it. Haven't tried MW5 yet. Still addicted to Destiny 2 and Division 2 and been playing some COD Warzone here and there.
I’ve also been playing Div 2... haven’t tried the latest update tho... been bouncing around games to much with the little time I had (just got back into Gears 5)

I had several iterations of the Microsoft Sidewinder Joystick which was practically made for the MW series... never had a feedback stick tho, they were expensive at the time!

Ya the sidewinder series lol that takes me back. I ended up with a saitek or something which I played Freespace and especially Freespace 2 endlessly with. They really need to make Freespace 3... Star Citizen is vaporware if you ask me and way too hardcore sim.

I'd say you need a joystick to properly enjoy MW5 I know a purist would say that but really the mouse and keyboard work better probably for quick precise aiming which you need for this game.

An OG purist will tell you they played with keyboard ONLY... it was a pain in the @$$.

Strafing was difficult ... which is why the Sidewinders with the Z axis upper torso rotation, hat switch, programmable buttons and forward/reverse lever was kinda a game changer in those days

Anyone out there into the RPG games? Any suggestions after I am done with Xenoblade?
If you do enjoy the JRPGs, you have the real heavy hitter series out there - Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Persona and Fire Emblem are favourites of mine but you also have the likes of Tales, Mana, SaGa...

I don't think I've come across this thread...I didn't want to read 30+ pages, so I'll pick up from here.

I purchased a Switch right before the whole covid thing hit in order to play some old school Zelda games. Found Punchout, Metroid, and some of the really retro stuff...

After that wore off, I hit some RPGs. Divinity Original Sin 2, Fire Emblem, both South Parks (I found these to be quite entertaining for a turn based/cartoon based game), and now playing a JRPG called Xenoblade. This game is really funny...as I get more advanced armor, I find my characters have less clothes on. It's honestly kind of creeper like. I have 2 female characters in my group right now, and they are basically running around in bikinis which is the highest armor available for them. When they started in my group, they had what looked like Pope robes on. I guess the Japanese knows what sells...lol

Have to say Divinity was the most "open world" game and was really cool...but, almost too difficult at times. When I wasn't leveling up fast enough to follow the story line, I had to use some gaming boards to figure out how to get XP to move the story along. (I prefer to figure games out on my own, but some of the things required in that game would have taken me months to figure out)

Since others seem to be sharing, here's my rig
Phantex ethoos lux case
i7-8700k water cooled w/corsair closed loop system, had to modify the case with a dremel to fit the radiator up top
32gb ram
1080 Ti
asus wireless card
asus blu ray drive, hard to find a case that supports optical drives anymore..
1tb ssd as the main, 4tb wd black for backup

Also threw in a 1tb m2 drive recently, (the chip below the processor) but haven't yet installed the heatsink kit I got or cloned my main drive to it and done the switch yet, someday

This is hype! I upgraded from a 1070 to a 2080 super a few months ago and regret it as the new 3000 series cards are coming out. And the 2000 series were not much better than the 1080 ti. Nice build!
