Thump 512 repair

I got a thump 512 mb and as expected, the battery is toast. In an attempt to replace the battery, I pulled out the brown wiring ribbon from the main board. Does anyone know if the main mp3 block can be removed? Don’t want to just pry it out and cause more damage. TIA
