Galveston. We sometimes do South Padre but most of the time Port A. We decided to try Galveston this time for a change.

We're in a big 6th floor, corner two-bedroom condo at a pretty nice place - much nicer than the type of places we normally stay at in Port A. Haven't hit the beach yet but there's a lot of seaweed on it - the condo has a pretty good pool if it's a problem.

Where we're at is right across from a rocky shore, but the seaweed covered sandy beach is only a block down the road. You can see it starting around the center of this pic, right past the condo pool:

seaweed in Galveston looks like sewage has washed up on the shore line....

smells like death....

You're in my neck of the woods! You can go eat at Pho 20 Broadway and 21st. Also highly recommend mine and @Litos favorite, The Spot on Seawall and 32nd. Best Oakley spot is Baybrook mall in Clear Lake. Seaweed sucks, but there are some fun things to do on the island.
