What Really Grinds Your Gears?

Meetings at work when you work night shift. I already work 5pm-5am. Then they do monthly meetings. Then training meetings. Then special meetings. These meetings are 1-2 hours, and I have to come in before my normal shift, meaning 13-14hr days. Meanwhile day shift people get to do the meetings after their normal work day. While that may not sound like a big deal the vast majority of work I do is very mentally demanding, and usually fairly physically demanding as well. Stretching out an already long shift makes for miserable nights instead of being able to unwind after working 12hrs by watching a power point presentation. I'll be leaving for my meeting soon...

When your employer plays the role of mother hen. This grinds everyone's gears at work.

We feel like we are in a prison. The fence went up last year to keep folks from jaywalking. At this point, if someone is foolish to jaywalk on this major street, they deserve what's coming. Also, I hope no one is stupid enough to walk under a gate.

Blame the lawyers. They've pussified America through a plethora of mercenary frivolous lawsuit money-grabs...

 "Oh! I just poked my eye out with this pencil!"

:spiteful: "Hi I'm a lawyer let's sue the pencil company for not putting a 'do not poke eye out' warning on the pencil!"

 "Sweet..."

:spiteful: "Heh heh heh heh..."

Thankfully my company isn't all that big, so we don't have any real bureaucrat type middle management that love to hold meetings and seminars. But we still have occasional typical do-nothing meetings.

"Hey Rustpot, I know you're on a deadline (I'm the one who put you on it and will hold you to it!), but here's a new project salesman X needs done because he's already 2 weeks late in getting numbers to the customer. By the way, we have an all-day meeting I forgot to tell you that you need to attend, so.... chop chop"

When my job was bought out by another company the number of meetings increased tenfold or more. Today's meeting is an hour to learn how to use the welders I use hundreds of times a month. Nothing has changed, its just a refresher. Thanks. I needed it I'm sure. Bastards.

Yep. Useless meetings grinds my gears as well.

I am feeling kinda "grindy" today...

Center turn lanes. WTF? Their legal use is to make left turns off the road without blocking traffic.

But sometimes people use them to make left turns onto a road by turning into the center lane when they have a gap in the oncoming traffic but no gap in the traffic they're trying to join. I'm not sure whether that's actually legal or not but I think it's fine, I do it too sometimes. But you have to STOP after turning into the center lane and wait until a gap opens.

Instead, some ****heads then use it as an acceleration lane to merge with the traffic they're trying to join. Definitely illegal and dangerous! Why? Because you could have a head-on accident with someone coming the other direction who's trying to use the center turn lane properly!!! Some ******** driving a brown ****box minivan did that to me this morning, I had to avoid him...

I had a guy do that to me, but he was turning. Maybe he was looking for the turn, I don't know.

I was going to grab a bite for lunch, see a guy ahead of me in the turn lane, so I slowed a lot to see where he was going. Got into the turn lane. Guy is still coming. I'm stopped. Guy is still coming. He finally sees me and JERKS the wheel to get back into traffic. Thankfully the car he moved into swerved and the car he cutoff had an escape. Then he pulls into the turn lane behind me and follows it another few hundred feet to the intersection.

He looked at me like I was nuts.

Almost wrecked 4 cars.

OK, got a couple work related ones......

First up. I buy an item online from an auction site really cheap with the potential to make quite a bit on it. When it finally gets shipped to me its not what I bought. They cant find it. I ask them to keep looking.... I get a refund even though I didnt as for one. Wala, 2 months later they have it again listed. The same one they couldnt find. Said they found it after new years but couldnt remember who bought it. Could have run the auction number tag on it to find out but didnt. Called today and they remember the problems from before but since I was issued a refund I have to bid on it again. Its already past what I paid the first time.

Secondly... Sold an item a couple days ago. Buyer says he has bought the same thing from me before but I cant remember and couldnt find any record of it. Its a pricy item btw. I get no response from 2 days of emails so I call yesterday. He answers but says I need to talk to someone else any they will contact me. tick tock tick tock... nothing. I call again, no answer now. I call again at lunch today, no answer. No money no answer..... seriously people? This is how I make a living here. Quit jerkin me around!
