Wagamama rolled out a new menu this week. I’ve been trying to order the tofu gochujang bowl for a couple of evenings now but it kept disappearing from the Deliveroo menu at the critical moment 😒😫 So I thought I’d make lunch the main meal today and grab it while I could.

It’s tasty and a little spicy (good to cut through the horrible cold I have) and obviously leaning more to the Korean side with the gochujang (Waga has always been more of a fusion restaurant than a “proper” Japanese). The white bits top right are a small portion of their new sweet onion slaw - I’ll definitely be getting that again as a side, it was yummy!

Coming back more to Japan with the kuromitsu chouxnut - kuromitsu is a sort of less sticky black treacle (as you might tell from the name) and can be a bit of an acquired taste, but I like it and its slight bitterness offsets the sweetness of the rest of the bun. The other variety is matcha, so they’re clearly going with a bittersweet theme.
