ok, so one of my vendors took me out to this place called Trulucks (premier steak and seafood house in the ritzy part of Houston)...

he also took my wife out since she works right down the road...

appetizer was calamari and crab cakes...

main course was an 8oz center cut filet (medium rare) with lump crab/crawfish sauce and a side of mashed potatoes...

desert was a massive 3 layered carrot cake, but my wife took it home so we could eat it for dinner HAHAHA !!!!

Nice... have you been there before?

I know Trulucks is one of Dallas O Hog's favorite places for special occasions...

Personally, I've eaten at the Trulucks in NW Austin twice. Both times were excellent meals and I walked away full to the gills.

Unfortunately, both times I got violently ill 2-3 hours later and puked up the entire meal. Foodborne illness doesn't work that fast, and happening both times can't be a coincidence - something I ate there didn't agree with me.

All I can think of is it's the stone crab claws; they're the only thing I ate that I haven't had anywhere else.

Which doesn't really make sense - I've never had any sort of allergy, food or otherwise, and I can eat crab all day - I once ate so much snow crab from an all-you-can-eat special that they sold out and raised the price the following week lol... So why I'd have a bad reaction to just one species, I don't know...

But I do know that I'm not testing the hypothesis by trying stone crab claws a 3rd time...

Glad you enjoyed your meal!:D

this is my 4th time there in 9 months - I've only paid once HAHA !!!

went there for the first time last year in October (vendor took my wife and I)...

then I took my wife there for her birthday in January...

then the vendor took me there for my birthday in February...

and today, we went "just because"...

if I take my wife out to some premier eating, I usually take her to Vic and Anthony's in downtown.....
