Wiener Schnitzel is traditionally made from veal; if that one was pork, it was really just a Schnitzel.

True, though pork has been a popular variation, veal is the "proper" Wiener Schnitzel and the pork variety has been properly called Viennese style / Schnitzel Wiener Art or Wiener Schnitzel vom Schwein" (from pork).

But after a ruling in 2009 by the administrative court in Arnsberg, the term no longer applies to veal specifically but to a breaded steak in general.

It was German immigrants in Texas back in "the day" that brought over Schnitzel, which has evolved into the modern American chicken fried steak...

However, there's a fast-food chain over here called Wienerschnitzel that doesn't actually serve Wiener Schnitzel but instead sells hot dogs, which are often called wieners over here (as thus used as slang for something else ;)), though the wiener term actually came from Wiener Wurstchen. The chain's founder's wife suggested the name. The end result is many Americans think that Wiener Schnitzel is a kind of hot dog... :headbang:
