Curious: is the warm water/mild soap wash solution safe for the x-metals and their parts?

I don't see why it wouldn't be, as long as you let them dry really well.

Or maybe you could make a soapy warm water solution in a spray bottle, that way you don't have to submerge the frame.

I've tried these before however I noticed they leave small fibers all over the lenses.
