Oakley Model Number vs. Serial Number
In Oakley’s world, serial numbers and model numbers are two different things.
Oakley model numbers are used to identify what pair of sunglasses or eyeglasses you own. The model number is printed on every pair of Oakley eyewear and can tell you exactly what frame you own.
Oakley serial numbers indicate when in the production run, a specific frame was produced, among other information. Only a select few limited editions and vintage Oakley sunglasses have serial numbers (before 2004). Most Oakley’s produced today including prescription glasses don’t have a serial number and instead only have a model number.

Where to Find Your Oakley Model Number?
You can find your Oakley model number and serial number on the earstems or temples of your eyewear. Typically for Oakleys, this will be on the left earstem.
On recent Oakleys, the model number will start with “OO” followed by a series of numbers. To the right of the model number, you may also find additional numbers, these indicate the size of your sunglasses, including the lens width, bridge width and temple length, as shown in the image below.
Where to Find Your Oakley Serial Number?
As mentioned above, serial numbers are only found on a few limited editions and early production Oakley sunglasses. As you can see in the image below, Oakley serial numbers are typically found on the forward part of earstems, closer to the lenses than the model number.
