I'm considering a Leatherman Tread but I can't decide between the SS and DLC finishes, I need y'all to tell me which one to buy... ;)

Well, not really on that last part. I'm just curious which combo is more common, as food for thought...

And there's no way a watch and a Tread are going on the same wrist...

Though what would be cool is to get one of each then swap the links so they alternate between the two finishes, but that's a little overkill for the time being...

when i was looking at that Leatherman Tread i saw in videos online that the black was wearing off in places on peoples bracelets. they didn't ever mention it as a problem, but i could clearly see it. because of that i would say to go with the SS. at least when you scratch the SS it stays the same color.

When you are looking at the Tread on the Leatherman site, if you see one of the pictures they are showing that has a Time Tank (Minute Machine) in the picture, that is me.

look at like 2:39 in this video. the back side of the black ones is speckled and that looks like it is the way it comes. 11:50 or so you can see the edges of the flat head show specs of silver as well. in another video the screw heads for the links were scratched up and silver was showing too. i would stick with the SS if i had to choose. it's cheaper anyways.

Yeah, I see what you mean; I also ran across a written review talking about the black getting damage.

BTW that video's the first I've seen of the watch version. Looks pretty basic. He also mentioned Torx links being available, haven't seen those...

It would be cool if you could make it into a watch band Somehow.

BTW I found this pic where some dude retrofitted it as a band on his Casio, looks better than the Leatherman watch option:

I looked at their store page and their "explore tread" page but didn't see the pic you're talking about...

Yeah, they rotate different pictures in and out. There's no set pattern, just random. But when you see the Time Tank (Minute Machine) you will know.
