The thing is, this is perfectly viable. There is a technique to 3d print Ti like that, just google "3d laser sintering" and while it is rather expensive and generally done for aerospace, there is a mountain bike company in the UK using it to print all the lugs of their frames (Robot Bike | Robot Bike ). So, it's a good April fools because its totally doable if the desire was there.
