First lens cuts!

about the cars..it was fun to be in that garage. Several not pictured as well :) the ford Gt is my fave too. It drives like a beast. Never gonna forget that feeling, of a supercharged v8 right behind my head!

The horizontal orientation needs to be aligned similarly before and after the cut - that's why you lose the etching, because the Romeo lens is much more rounded at the base there.

No, cutting polars is tricky, you have to check two things - 1) are they still blocking polarized light from the correct angle? 2) are both lenses in the same alignment?

You can answer both of these with a LCD screen test. Since LCDs are polarized, you can line up the polar filters on the lenses to block the polarized light coming from a LCD screen.

First get a benchmark - use some OEM polars to verify what the correct angle should be with the LCD screen you're using for the test. On some of my LCDs it's 45 degrees while on others it's 90 degrees. Here's what it looks like at 45 degrees:

Then do the same test with your cuts. If they darken the screen when they hit the same angle as the OEMs, you're good with question #1.

But at the same time you want to look that both lenses darken / lighten at the same time. If they do, you're good with question #2. If not, the lenses are out of sync and you'll get a lot more disorienting rainbow effects while wearing them. Here's what an off batch looks like:

Please be aware I'm not trying to knock your work, but to provide constructive feedback that could be helpful if you do more cutting. If you don't want to hear it, feel free to tell me to f off...:D

For the R1's both lenses darken at about 90 degrees, so yes to question #1. For question #2, no, they do not both darken at the exact same time. The lens closest to the top of the screen begins to darken first, but at 90 degrees both lenses are equally dark. So..I cannot say yes completely to question #2.
I am noticing as I walk around, that certain things look very strange. It already bugs me. This was definitely a hard knocks learning session...

Same with my first polar set
