Sorry for the hijacking Tejada! (Really want to buy these but I’m currently broke)
I’ll give my opinion/guess here (doesn’t mean I’m right), seems that everything over 1200 were warranty frames. If you check the ones sold that are over 1200, they either don’t have a box, or the box has no sticker. I’m guessing oakley did some extra frames as warranty since they weren’t sure how the finish would hold (being the only polished carbon and having such a high price tag). Remeber how they used to serialize wareanty plasmas with a W? Maybe this is the way their way to keep track of warranty frames while keeping the ichiro serial style (if I’m paying top dollar for an ichiro set, it better be serialized as an ichiro, not a warranty). This is just an idea I came up with by looking into the previous frame sales, it could be right, or I can be totally wrong and Oakley just simply decided to sell more of these (ie. Like my LaxKaws frog which has no serial, and in theory there should be only 25 ever made)

Press release says 1200 pairs to be released only in Japan but I think they were not limited to that number. Have seen boxed, unused units with serials above 1200.

I thought of the warranty frame too, but I’ve seen some pictures of labels higher then 1200. Unfortunately not in the forum. Pretty sure someone is trying to sell a 13XX on Facebook right now actually. I’ll do some more sleuthing on this later when not working. I suspected JJ has/had seen some in his dealing since he gets stuff from Japan frequently. Be interesting if [mention]YakuzaFloralGangsta [/mention] chimes in if he’s had or seen any above 1200. More specifically with a matching box at this point as I think it’s been pretty proven that clearly the press release is in error and there are well over 1300 pairs out there. This is the stuff that makes it fun. Try chasing down 50 year old car parts that if you were LUCKY they made 1200 of 50 YEARS AGO! As for hihacking the thread, personally when stuff like this happens in my threads I’m appreciative. Keeps the thread at the top hopefully helping it sell. If this had the box I’d have bought it literally 1 minute after it posted lmao goes well with all the rest I have that are sub 200 serials
