Worth considering.

If you do decide to remove them, heat if your friend warm water soak an a hairdryer will make the thermoplastic they're made of a bit more forgiving/flex to them, along with using one of those razor blade guitar picks to pry them off.
Where as if they were a thermoset plastic they'd just burn if brought to a flame, versus thermoplastics would melt; don't worry you need to bring them to above 450 F before that happens and most hair dryers don't go above 200.
