Oakley EV ZERO

I see a baggie for a nosepiece. Guess I could've gone with the regular version.

But man, looks like everyone's eating up the Planet X version.
Yea i figured the fans of the original line-up would bite on that colorway first. Definitely one I am considering after I try them on. Disappointed in the polarized colorways options in path right now, the range sapphire one looks good. Just might be to big for my face.

I see this as a crossover pair between Sport and Lifestyle. Oakley often do stuff that crosses their lines.
Look, if you want a Sports frame, you buy a Radar, or Radarlock, or M series, or Racing Jacket, or Jawbreaker, etc etc. Having said that, I do see a lot of sense in runners wearing this new frame due to it's light weight, but then again I see runners wearing all sorts.
Lots of guys in the US wear the Sports frames as their everyday pairs anyway, so it makes perfect sense to make a lightweight pair that sits in the range to do just that - crosses the line between style and sport.
It's also a nod back to Oakley's past, of course, which the company likes to do occasionally for its fans. Then the fans just b1tch about it.
The original Zero didn't have changeable lenses either, and didn't really rival their Sports line at the time.
So, let's stop trying to rationalise them and their very existence now, and as usual just buy them if we like them.

Well stated @Herbsley . Scratches were a "$160 problem" on original zeros too, and the earth didn't hurl itself into the sun. Heading to Baltimore later this month for a getaway with the Mrs. (Who, by the way, hasn't stopped laughing at your response last night to the other frantic head shaker...I can imagine how loud she'll laugh when I show her your latest) and there's a Sunglass Hut there that will hopefully have a pair of these so I can try them on. Don't see them unseating original Radars as my every-day riding pair though. We'll see.

A friend of mine has just ordered the Planet X from Oakley UK, immediately after I sent him the link. Can't wait to see it in the flesh.

After vigorously wearing these all day yesterday, I vigorously love how comfortable they are. So far my only vigorous hatred is no ability to make a lens swap.
Good vigorous review.
But unfortunately meaningless without the now-imperative vigorous head-shake test.

Yeah there's nostalgia, but that doesn't change their level practicality nor excuse it. Dodge Caravans don't have wooden wheels and horses because "the original caravans" had them. For a $160 modern day sport pair, most kinda expect a bit more, especially since almost every other Oakley pair has replaceable lenses. Flaks and Radars took steps forward, the Wind Jacket turned into something different altogether so staying true to original form doesn't hold much water.

There is, of course, the defined category of this pair. It does rub as more "active" (Straight Jacket, Pitbull, etc) than "sport" like previously said, yet it doesn't help that they were first seen with the upcoming Wind Jackets which have a clearly-dedicated sport purpose. The also-frameless Tombstone was setting a bit of a tone as well. I personally thought we were getting a tweaked rendition of those with a tighter hold.

It's not so much of "b1tchin" but a lot to question. I know some Zero's could have their lenses removed despite not being advertised as so. It, as well as practicality is something to explore. Hence why I went for it anyway. F&F helps, too.

I figured out what the arms remind me of - they look like the Mag M Frame stems.

I hope these don't outshine the Tombstone, but at the same time I hope they do. Certainly won't take place in my shooting kit, but I don't have much desire to wear the Tombstone outside of the range.
